THE Gold Coast Titans have locked in the final piece of their leadership puzzle, announcing Graham Annesley’s successor as chief executive.
After a gruelling process of sorting through what Titans chairman Dennis Watt described as a “Melbourne Cup field of high-quality candidates”, Steve Mitchell proved to be the successful applicant.
Mitchell has previously held upper commercial management roles with the North Queensland Cowboys and Melbourne Rebels and more recently was chief executive at Touch Football Australia.
His appointment comes a fortnight after the Titans unveiled Kangaroos coach and Rugby League Immortal Mal Meninga as their head of performance and culture.
Mitchell and Meninga join a leadership team already featuring the likes of co-owners Rebecca Frizelle and Darryl Kelly – plus their respective partners Brett and Jo – chairman Watt, head of football Phil Moss, football manager Anthony Laffranchi and coach Garth Brennan.
Mitchell is the father of former NRL hooker Anthony Mitchell, who played 39 games across stints at the Eels, Roosters and Cowboys as well as representing the Indigenous All Stars twice.
