BRONCOS halfback Ben Hunt has already achieved a major personal goal this season after proposing to his girlfriend Bridget Hagan.
Hagan’s support has been one of the biggest reasons why the 25-year-old has flourished over the past two years.
Hunt popped the question during a gondola cruise down the Brisbane River and announced the engagement on social media last Wednesday, less than a day out from the Broncos’ season-opening win over Parramatta.
Hunt said the last two years had been about ticking off professional goals, including earning a starting spot and playing in a grand final.
Now he is ticking off the personal goals as well.
“It’s something that makes me a good footballer I think, is having a good home life,” he said.
“She’s definitely been great for me and I’m really happy. I’m glad that she’s in my life.’’
No date has been set for the wedding, so Hunt is now focused on tonight’s first home game against the Warriors.
“(The Parramatta game) was a bit of a rusty hit out,” Hunt said.
“The first half I thought was all right. I dropped off after that and I wasn’t really as involved as I wanted to be or should have been.
“I wasn’t really happy with the game. I fade out of matches a bit and it’s something I’ve done in the past.
“I need to get my hands on the ball more and go at the game this week.’’
