Kieran Foran has left the door ajar to extend his contract beyond 2025 and declared he will finish his career at the Gold Coast Titans.
The 34-year-old’s commitment comes amid a period of new-found optimism at Parkwood given the Titans have won three consecutive games to keep their slim finals hopes alive.
“I’m not going to put an end point on it, if I’m playing good enough footy and my body’s feeling good enough, I’ll keep playing until it eventually breaks on me and I can’t keep up or the club doesn’t need me here,” Foran said.
“I won’t put a finish line, I’ll keep holding myself to that standard and if the club wants me here I’m here.
“I guess that’ll be the discussion we go through next year.”
Foran also pledged his commitment to the Titans, announcing that it’s the club he will finish his NRL career with.
“I didn’t even open those discussions (with other clubs).” he said.
“I’m fully invested here, this is where I want success, I’m going to stop at nothing to get it here and I believe we can do it here.
“This is where it’s going to be me for me.”
It comes after it was confirmed last week that Foran had extended his contract to run until the end of 2025 which will take him to 17 season of NRL footy.
“At the end of the day I was going to be judged on the sort of footy I was playing, and secondly if it was going to benefit the club,” he said.
“Those discussions came to the conclusion that it worked for both parties to roll around again and keep going.
“I’m enjoying my footy, I’m loving being a leader among these lads and helping their footy grow and develop for hopefully many more years to come.”
Gold Coast’s 24-16 round 19 win over Parramatta on Saturday signalled the club’s third consecutive win for the first time under coach Des Hasler.
Foran believes it is a sign of the consistency the club is capable of as it shoots for an unlikely finals berth.
“It’s nice to build some cohesion, and back-to-back wins really, it’s important as a club that we start becoming a consistent club,” Foran said.
“For a long-time we’ve talked about potential and being able to play some exciting footy and get some wins occasionally.
“At the end of the day if you want to be there at the back-end of the season you’ve got to be playing some consistent footy, that’s our main focus and main goal at the moment.
“We’re going to go full bore this year and see what we can make of it, we’re not giving up on playing finals.
“Next year’s something we haven’t even focused on yet we’re fully immersed in what we can achieve this year.”
