Former Wallabies brothers Anthony and Saia Fainga’a have provided the inspiration for Supercars squad PremiAir Racing’s livery design for next week’s Indigenous round in Darwin.

The rugby twins helped unveil the designs with PremiAir drivers Tim Slade and James Golding at Seaworld on the Gold Coast on Friday.

The liveries – entitled Moonyah, which means ‘safe house, safe place’ – were designed by Widjabul artist Sheldon ‘SJ’ Harrington for the brother’s business, Moonyah Workforce.

Proud Bunjalung men, the brothers both represented Australia, Queensland and Canberra in rugby union before establishing Moonyah Workforce, which is a 100 per cent Indigenous owned and operated traffic management and labour hire firm.

“We are really proud to see Sheldon’s artwork selected for the Indigenous round,” Saia said.

“When we first left professional football and set up Moonyah, we engaged Sheldon to create artwork to articulate our journey from an idea through to becoming a reality which aims to help people improve their lives.

“Since launching Moonyah, we’ve been proud to create meaningful opportunities and provide consistent work for local residents across Australia.”

The matching liveries on Slade and Golding’s Camaros feature turtle shell symbolism and earth tones to tell the story of Moonyah and its social impact journey.

Harrington, who has been painting, designing, and creating for more than 10 years, said the brothers’ journey helped provide inspiration for the design.

“The turtle shells are … an articulation of Anthony and Saia being twins sharing a path, while walking their own journey,” Harrington said.

All Supercars teams will feature special Indigenous liveries for the Darwin round at Hidden Valley Raceway, starting next Friday.
