Renee Gracie has dropped a savage truth bomb on Australia’s top motor racing category, Supercars.

The former Supercars driver spoke out about the current state of the sport, stating not enough was being done to attract more people.

Gracie, 30, walked away from the sport in 2017 as her career took a turn towards adult entertainment.

She made her grand return to racing in 2023, returning as the boss of her own team in the GT World Challenge Australia series.

Now fully back behind the wheel, Gracie says she can see that Supercars has “lost its spark” and the series she now finds herself in is knocking on the door to take its place.

“I think a lot of people have been feeling over the last few years is that it’s just kind of lost its spark,” Gracie said to Wide World of Sports.

“It’s not what it used to be, and GT is a serious threat to them, because it’s new and it’s exciting, and there’s a lot of action.

‘I mean, I think Supercars would probably need someone like me to make it half interesting.

“GT (Racing), they don’t discriminate. They have people from all over the world. They want people to race.”

Gracie, who became Australia’s first Supercars driver in 2015, says change is needed within the sport to make it more accommodating for females.

“There are some categories that still are very old in their ways, and you can just sense that it’s not welcoming because there’s no women in the category,” she said.

“And I think in a couple of years’ time, the amount of women that will be in the sport itself, in the certain categories and on track as well, it will be so obvious where they are welcome and where they are not welcome.”

Gracie said her decision to walk away from the industry was due to being unfairly treated, making her lose her love of driving.

“People assume that because I was a woman in motorsport that I got handed everything on a silver platter in life and it was actually kind of the opposite,” she said in an interview with news.com.au.

“I didn’t get treated fairly. I missed out on a lot of opportunities.

“It’s what led me to eventually making the decision to go you know what, I don’t want to be here anymore. I don’t want to do this anymore.

“This isn’t for me anymore. And this space that I’m in, in this industry that I’m in is no longer my love and passion and desire.”

Gracie returned to the track last weekend for the first Speed Series races of the season at Phillip Island in her OnlyFans wrapped Audi R8 LMS EVO ll.

Proving she is not there to make up the numbers, Gracie took out the AM Cup victory on Sunday after crossing the line more than 30 seconds ahead of Ben Schoots and Shane Woodman.

After an entertaining battle, Gracie got the better of her rivals before storming clear to take the chequered flag.

The series will now head to Sydney with the third and fourth races of the season taking place at Sydney Motorsport Park on the first weekend in May.
