Manly junior Remy Siemsen returns in a huge boost for Sydney FC’s A-League chances

They’ve gone within inches of A-League grand final glory in recent seasons, and now Sydney FC have brought back a key piece to lift them over the edge for a tilt at this year’s crown.

A VITAL piece of the puzzle for the Sydney FC women has been solved with the re-signing of Matildas forward Remy Siemsen.

The current Australian representative returns at a crucial time for the Sky Blues with their second round A-League clash against Melbourne Victory scheduled for Saturday afternoon.

In what serves as a further boost, the Belrose Terrey Hills junior and former Manly United FC player will play in front of her home fans at Cromer Park.

The 22-year-old has notched 29 goals from her 65 games in Sydney FC colours and is looking to add to that tally this season.

“I’m excited to be coming back and I want to have a great season of playing and

training to get into that squad in the next seven months,” Siemsen said.

“I love playing for Sydney FC, I feel it’s going to be big season for us and we’ve got

another fabulous squad.

“I’m delighted to be heading back in time for our game at Manly United against

Melbourne Victory.

“A grand final rematch on my home patch is the perfect way to start again.”

Siemsen has taken home the club’s leading goalscorer honours three times, and was named the competition’s player of the year in 2016-17.

She returns after spending time with AIK in Sweden, and was part of Australia’s Asia Cup campaign earlier this year.

The news has delighted head coach Ante Juric, who said her capabilities up front will provide a powerful attacking prowess for the Sky Blues.

“It’s great to have Remy back, it means we’ve got really strong competition for places

with Madison (Haley), Shay (Hollman) and Jynaya (Dos Santos) up front,” Juric said.

“Remy has gained a lot more experience professionally by playing in Sweden over

the past eight months and we will benefit from that experience.

“I’m sure she will be desperate to score in front of her home crowd in Manly this

Saturday.”
