THE Gold Coast Cougars have booked a ticket to August’s Little League Baseball World Series in the US after emerging triumphant from the Australian titles in Lismore.

Led by pitcher Oscar Hyde, the Cougars thumped the Adelaide Seahawks 11-0 in yesterday’s gold medal game to earn a spot at the World Series in Pennsylvania from August 16-26.

In four innings on the mound, Hyde punched out nine Seahawks and did not allow a hit as he worked with an early 4-0 lead.

Jake Calver’s two-run single opened the scoring and it was 6-0 when Zach Smith landed a two-run single of his own.

William Baker then put the nail in the coffin, with his three-run homer extending the lead to 10-0 in the bottom of the third.

Baker finished with four runs batted in, while Calver drove in three.
