GEORGIA Miller could relinquish her lead in the Nutri-Grain Ironwoman Series next weekend but she’d never miss her sister’s wedding.
The Northcliffe competitor, who produced an imposing performance to win the Maroochy Classic on Sunday, has enjoyed an impressive season.
She was a heavyweight at the world championships and has been a force in the Ocean6 series.
But she won’t be able to compete in the penultimate round at Surfers Paradise due to her sister’s wedding on the south coast of New South Wales.
“From the start of the season I said I’d be there no matter what,” she said.
“It’s unfortunate that a round of the series fell on it but that’s life.
“It (the round) will be hard to miss but at the same time my sister’s wedding is something I would never miss.”
Miller will have one more chance to race in the series, at Wanda next month.
“I’ll have to do everything I possibly can in that round and if it’s not meant to be, it’s not meant to be,” she said.
“It’s been a great season no matter what so I can’t complain.”
And Miller still has the state and national championships to look forward to in Autumn.
There is also the prospect of competing in the lucrative Shannon Eckstein Ironman Classic.
“It’s been an incredibly long season already and we’ve still got plenty more to come,” she said.
“I just have to manage myself and make sure I stay on top of recovery because it does get pretty draining.”
Miller produced a strong outing at Maroochydore to snare a $3000 prize purse.
She had a convincing lead for the majority of the race, before staving off a fast-finishing Tiarrn Raymond, of Alexandra Headland.
Noosa Heads’ Lana Rogers was third.
Miller moved from Sydney to join juggernaut outfit Northcliffe in May.
“It’s just so great training with such an elite group of girls. It’s pretty much racing at every training session and that’s definitely helped. And our coaching staff is incredible. Floody (Naomi Flood) is doing some amazing things with us.”
