TYRONNE Roberts-Davis has made a successful return from a neck injury in Burleigh’s Intrust Super Cup trial against Easts.
Missing a contingent of key players, the Bears fell 24-4 on Saturday night though coach Jimmy Lenihan was relatively happy with the hitout.
Roberts-Davis, who stayed with Burleigh despite his Gold Coast NRL contract not being renewed for 2019, damaged neck ligaments in an ISC match last season.
“He got cleared for contact probably two or three weeks ago,” Lenihan said of the winger.

“He came out and it was good to see him playing some footy and not overly worrying about how he goes, just going out there and playing freely.
“Anyone who has got first grade experience certainly knows how to play football. I don’t think you get that by luck … those types of players are really good to have around the group.”
Try-scorer Josh Ailaomai also impressed, as did Henare Wells.
Having dodged any injuries heading into their main trial against Tweed Heads next weekend, Lenihan has identified defence as their main focus on the training paddock.
“We’re probably going to work a little bit harder on our defence. That will be a focus until we start Round 1,” he said.
“We’re always looking to improve our defence. If you don’t concede many tries you don’t have to score many tries yourself.”
There was a scare earlier in the day at Langlands Park as Bears under-20 player Ben Willetts was knocked unconscious but he has since been cleared of any serious damage.
