TEAMS from across Australia are celebrating success at the National Clubs Gymnastics Carnival following the final day of trampoline, aerobic and Gymnastics for All competitions on the Gold Coast today.
Brisbane’s Robertson Gymnastics claimed overall victory in the trampoline competition, finishing with a massive 220.334 points to beat Sydney Gymnastics Centre (164.223 points) and fellow Sydneysiders Kachan School of Tumbling and Performance (153.32 points).
Robertson also took out the title of Trampoline Discipline Champion Club, as well as Champion Club in the National Level 4 to 7 division.
However, Sydney Gymnastics Centre and Kachan School of Tumbling and Performance stood their ground in their preferred disciplines, taking out the Double Mini Trampoline and Tumbling Champion Club Titles respectively.
On the aerobics floor, Melbourne Girls’ College, which operates both an AeroSchools program and a gymnastics club, went one better than its runner-up finish in the AeroSchools Australian Championships earlier in the week.
The school claimed the Overall Champion Club crown for the first time at a National Clubs Carnival with a total of 310 points.
Loreto Toorak Gymnastics Club, another Melbourne school-based club, finished second with 258 points, while Premier Gymnastics Academy, who operate out of Brisbane’s Moreton Bay College, were a close third (247 points).
Melbourne’s Advantage Gym Sports won the Overall Best Performance Club for 2018, with a score of 10.143. Sydney’s Kinetic Force Fitness (9.750) and Premier Gymnastics Academy (8.517) also finished on the podium.
In the Gymnastics for All competition, 23 teams from 13 clubs took to the floor but there were three who stood above the rest.
Woden Valley Gymnastics Club’s The Greaties won the Gold Award for the Intermediate division, with the Gymnastics NSW Combined Clubs Performance Team and Swan Districts Gymnastics Club’s Black Ice team finishing with the same award in the Advanced division.
Unsurprisingly, Team Adrenalin’s The Greatest Show performance was the winner of the Gym4Life Gala, the Victorian club’s second title in three years.
Gymnastics Australia will return to the Gold Coast next weekend, with part two of the 2018 National Clubs Gymnastics Carnival commencing at the Gold Coast Sports and Leisure Centre on Sunday, September 30.
Competition in Men’s Artistic, Women’s Artistic and Rhythmic Gymnastics will commence at 8am.
