HE’S very much a former Suns player these days and Charlie Dixon has had a laugh getting in on the blasts from the past.

The Port Adelaide key forward, who played 65 games for the Gold Coast from 2011-15, was asked to nominate a random former Carlton play, to which he coughed up Paul Bower.

For those who don’t remember Bower he played 90 games for the Blues from 2006-2012.

TITANS CEO Steve Mitchell last week firmly knocked on the head suggestions the club might chase Jordan Rapana – and it seems the fans agree.

While Gold Coast may have landed last year’s wooden spoon and started 2020 in a sorry fashion, few seem convinced bringing Palam Beach Currumbin schoolboy Rapana back is the right move.

Rapana played five games for the Titans in 2008 and 114 for the Raiders before linking with Japanese rugby union team the Panasonic Wild Knights in the off-season.

“Nah, we have plenty of wingers,” one fan wrote.

Burleigh Bears half Jamal Fogarty has jumped on board to help the Cronin family raise funds to assist in creating memorials for Mitch Cronin.

Fogarty, who was the 2019 Petero Civoniceva Medal winner, is auctioning off his 2016 National Championship and 2018 Queensland Residents jerseys to raise money for the cause following Cronn’s death on April 17 after a suspected heart attack.

Bidding for Fogarty’s jerseys ends at 4pm on Tuesday.

Fellow Bears player Jeff Lynch is auctioning his 2019 premiership memorabilia piece; people can bid until Wednesday at 4pm.

The Cronin family have established a GoFundMe page to raise funds to assist in creating memorials at various events and locations that were a part of Mitch Cronin’s life.

CONGRATULATIONS are in order for former Titans winger Daniel Vidot who made his WWE debut at the weekend.

Yes, the 30-year-old, who played three games for the Gold Coast in 2017 and 114 NRL matches overall, walked out in wrestling’s ultimate arena.

SURF LIFESAVING

IT appears that Surf Life Saving Australia has finally listened to the pleas of athletes.

Two months after staging the controversial Iron X event on the Australia Day long weekend, prompting an outpouring of frustration from athletes, the sport’s organisation body is rumoured to have finally given up on making the new format the future of the sport.

It’s believed Surf Life Saving Australia was going to look at staging a few stand alone Iron X races throughout winter, plans that are likely to be on hold due to coronavirus, following the success of the original exhibition event.

As long as $100,000 of prize money isn’t poured into each race weekend and the professional series is declared safe, expect athletes and coaches alike to be appeased by the new proposal.

CORONAVIRUS has changed almost every aspect of our lives, except the humble piss-take.

On Tuesday night, the AFLW held the annual W-Awards best and fairest night, albeit over the internet, meaning the Suns best and brightest didn’t have the chance to attend the night in person.

Veteran Sally Riley saw the funny side of the situation, donning her PJ’s and wrapping her wet hair in a towel on social media writing “anyone get this nervous before a league bnf?”

“@aflwomens my door is open and I’ve practised my speech for the live cross.”

WHILE everyone is still locked inside, trying out new and unique hairstyles have become the new norm.

Kurrawa ironman Matt Poole is no different, having bleached his hair in recent weeks to see out the off-season in style.

Poole is no stranger to unique cuts, having died his hair pink in the early days of his career.

SUNS forward Kalinda Howarth made history this week when she became the first AFLW player from the club to earn All-Australian selection.

When asked this week whether she’d been weighing up her own credentials after being named in the initial squad of 40, the ever humble Howarth said she left the All-Australian equation to her dad.

“I’ve actually been pretty removed from the season and haven’t thought a whole lot about it since it ended,” the 20-year-old said.

“My dad though has been weighing up my stats and comparing me against the other forwards and looking at it in detail.

“It came as a pretty big shock but I’m very humble to be named.”
