As a sports documentary, The Last Dance edges on perfection.

Sit-down interviews with greats of basketball, unseen footage, bombshell revelations, heroes, villains and of course, a fairytale ending.

Documentary makers around the world are likely scrambling to unearth the next Jordan-esque narrative.

With this in mind, the Bulletin has chosen three Gold Coast sporting narratives we’d line up to see told in picture form.

Putting aside the Gold Coast’s chequered sporting history, the city is bursting with incredible stories.

The majority of the premiership group had been at the school since year six and the win marked their first outright premiership since 2007.

And to do it on the back of a thrilling 29-29 draw with Ipswich Grammar’s First XV heightened the already fever-pitch drama.

Surfers Paradise winning the 2019 QAFL decider

THIS narrative had it all.

Palm Beach Currumbin were gunning for their third straight premiership while Surfers hadn’t won a decider since 1998.

The Lions were the dominant side all season but Surfers had inflicted their sole loss of the year in Round 18.

The Demons got out to an 18 point lead early but scores remained deadlocked on even at half and three-quarter time before Surfers got up by two points.

Gold Coast Dolphins women 2019 triumph

THE Dolphins’ women put five failed grand final attempts behind them in January to claim their first piece of Katherine Raymont Shield silverware last year.

Their victory over Valleys in the Twenty20 decider was followed by an appearance in the one-day final in March, where they dominated proceedings against Wests before rain intervened.

They then fell to the Bulldogs by 20 runs in the replay a week later but were without a doubt, the best side of the 2018-19 summer.
