THEY’RE fresh off a premiership and ready for a new challenge after being promoted to QFAW division one but first, the Surfers Paradise Demonettes need a new coach.
The Demonettes lost only one game in 2019 on the way to their QFAW division two south premiership triumph, prompting AFL Queensland to promote them to division one for the 2020 season which already features Coast sides Burleigh, Robina, Broadbeach and fellow newcomers the Southport Sharks.
WHEN THE SUNS WILL CREATE FOOTY HISTORY
After all club coaching positions except the QAFL senior coach were vacated at the conclusion of the 2019 season, Surfers are now calling for a fresh mentor to steer them into a new era.
“They have to be willing to engage with a new group of girls because we’re expecting a few new faces in the pre-season,” said football operations manager Daniel Van De Werken.

“Hopefully going up into division one attracts new faces and maybe even some girls who played a few years ago when we had a successful side in the 2000s.”
Van De Werken said the incoming mentor would also play an important role in fulfilling Surfer’s future ambitions as they strive towards a higher level of competition.
“Our men’s team is in the QAFL so our ultimate goal is for both our women’s and men’s programs to be in the same league,” he said.
Expressions of interest for the role close today before the Demonettes host a come and try night on November 18.
