THE hunt for the Southport School’s First V basketball teams first win of the season is finally
over after TSS defeated Toowoomba Grammar School 91-76 on Saturday.

After heading into quarter and half time two points down, a sensational second half
including a 27-point last quarter saw TSS storm home to secure the breakthrough GPS
basketball win.

With sharp shooter Lloyd McVeigh missing with illness, Preston LeGassick stepped up in the
last half to take his tally for the day over 20 points, landing several field goals early in the
fourth quarter to extend his sides lead.

Harry Blair chipped in with a double double, recording more than 10 points and rebounds
while Max Levis chipped in with 15 points.
TSS also showed their defensive prowess, limiting TGS star Jason Spurgin’s impact in the
second half while Ryan Murphy provided defensive spark on the full court press.
