TWO local talents have been selected to represent Queensland at the upcoming Under-18 National Basketball Championships.
Gold Coast product Lloyd McVeigh and North Gold Coast Seahawk Katie Deeble will travel to Townsville in April to compete in the week long competition.
Deeble believes the home ground advantage will allow her Queensland side to thrive.
“We’re used to the heat,” she said.
Deeble, who scored 30 points in last year’s under-16 premier League grand final, hopes to make a career out of her incredible talent.
“In the future, I hopefully want to play for the opals and go to college in America,” she said.
McVeigh shares similar aspirations.

“I’d love to play professionally and get paid to play,” he said.
An impressive basketball pedigree meant the 15-year-old picked up the game at a young age.
“Mum was a great junior player and represented Australia and my older brothers also play,” he said.
McVeigh said that he is looking forward to travelling with the team and pulling on the Queensland guernsey.
“It’s an honour to represent Queensland and a great opportunity to be able to prove myself at a national level,” he said.
