USUAL SUSPECTS LOOMING IN KOOKABURRA CUP
If the results in the Kookaburra Cup Twenty20 competition are anything to go by, the 2019-20 season proper could end up much the same way as the last.
With the exception of Mudgeeraba Nerang (who essentially took the place of Burleigh), this season’s top T20 sides – Southport Labrador, Queens, Broadbeach Robina and Alberton Ormeau – were the pacesetters in the longer forms in 2018-19.
CAPTAIN JACK HAS WHAT IT TAKES
While the Dolphins’ men slumped to a 152-run loss to Valleys in Saturday’s third and final one-dayer, rookie captain Jack Hargreaves led from the front with an unbeaten 66 in a total of 146.

RIDDELL PULLS RIGHT REIN
Captain of the Dolphins’ Katherine Raymont Shield side last season, Amy Riddell’s decision to hand the reins to Belinda McDougall this campaign paid immediate dividends on Sunday.
SAM STILL HOLDING QUEENS KEY
One of the Kookaburra Cup’s most bankable wicket-takers, Sam Winton still holds the key to Queens’ fortunes this season.
His 12 appearances in 2018-19 yielded 28 wickets at 14.39 as the Centaurs missed the finals, and he rounded out the Twenty20 competition with 3-22 against Southport Labrador on Saturday to take his tally to seven wickets at 11.14.
