REVEALED: THE EIGHT YEAR NIPPERS MASTERPLAN REAPING REWARDS
Following Surf Life Saving Australia’s decision to take back control of the Nutri-Grain series, a group of Australia’s leading surf sports clubs including Currumbin, Northcliffe and Kurrawa have been working with Summer of Surf series director Trent Goulding to breath life back into the void left by the Ocean6 series.
The revamped series will be staged across three locations, starting with round one at Burleigh this weekend, with the aim of continuing to provide a pathway for iron athletes and specialist competitors in surf sports.

“We’ve been building over the past seven years and plan to give an opportunity for young kids and specialist ski, board and swimming athletes the chance the chance to compete,” Goulding said.
In addition to specialist craft and team races, Summer of Surf will also feature a junior series for U15 and U17 competitors with the chance to claim awards and prizes for their efforts.
U17 competitors will be given the chance to rub shoulders with their idols should they successfully qualify for the open iron final on Saturday afternoon, which is set to feature current Nutri-Grain series stars.
“They train just as hard as the open competitors,” Goulding said.
“It’s really exciting to see some of the talent coming through the ranks who will be big names in years to come.”
Iron heats will be held on Friday afternoon at Burleigh followed by specialist and relay heats on Saturday before the finals package kicks off on Saturday afternoon.
