Coming off a 3-2 loss to Moreton Bay in Round 1, United were left heartbroken last weekend when a scrambled injury-time goal consigned them to a 1-0 loss at home to 2018 champions Lions.

But having conquered Easts twice en route to the Logan Inter City Cup crown last month – including a 5-0 thrashing in the final – Reeves said they would enter the 7pm battle at Coorparoo believing they could match it with the league’s best.

“I think anyone can beat anyone in the league, it’s just who turns up on the day,” the 23-year-old said.

“We weren’t surprised (we troubled Lions). I think we probably gave them a bit too much respect.

“We go into every game the same, whether it’s against Lions or a team near the bottom. (The key is) to play for the full 90 minutes because these teams like Lions, that’s what they do. That’s why in the past they’ve won leagues.

“We haven’t let the results affect us. Both games we’ve only been beaten by a goal so with a bit of luck we’re in a different spot.

“We played Easts twice in pre-season and beat them so hopefully we can get a win. We are confident.”
