STAND-IN captains Tara Wheeler and Carly Fuller stood tall as Gold Coast kept their perfect start to the Katherine Raymont Shield’s one-day competition intact against Valleys today.
With regular skipper Belinda McDougall absent, co-captains Wheeler and Fuller steered the Dolphins to a comfortable eight-wicket win at Robina’s Bill Pippen Oval.
Opening the bowling, Fuller finished with 3-17 from five overs as Valleys were bowled out for 110 in the 38th over.
DOLPHINS ISSUE & FIGHT LEFT IN CAT - FIVE THINGS
The 20-year-old was well supported by new-ball partner Eliza Flynn (3-19), Ella Cornelius (1-10), Amy Riddell (1-12) and Grace Parsons (1-15).
The hosts then overcame the early loss of Riddell (13) and Fuller (0) to cruise home with eight wickets and 24 overs to spare, with Wheeler (62) and Chelsea Gan (25) remaining unbeaten.
ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT KEY FOR ‘EMBARRASSED’ DOLPHINS
It was the third win in as many 50-over outing for the Dolphins, who travel to Sandgate-Redcliffe next Sunday.
