WE are coming for you.

That was the message from Southport captain Lisa Stutz on Saturday as the Warriors continued their pursuit of unbeaten Women’s Premier League leaders Broadbeach United.

While the Dolphins made it 13-straight victories with a 2-0 defeat of Musgrave at Nikiforides Park, Southport loom as their biggest threat after overcoming a 1-0 halftime deficit to down Coomera 3-1 on Saturday.

ROUND BALL ROUND UP PODCAST

The Warriors entered the season as reigning championship and premiership winners, and with a final-round battle against Broadbeach looming on August 19, Stutz believes they have the talent to challenge for more silverware.

“We are happy with where we’re at. We’re looking to continue that and hopefully remain undefeated for the rest of the season,” the 28-year-old midfielder and co-captain said.

“Broadbeach has always been the benchmark. They have dominated women’s football on the Gold Coast for as long as I’ve played.

“We’re looking forward to (playing them). We know it’s going to be a tough game.”

Kate Webb bagged a brace for Southport on Saturday, with Emma Wallwork also finding the net.

Stutz said the game was the hitout the Warriors needed.

“Coomera really put it to us. We weren’t expecting any easy game at all, they have really improved from the start of the season.

PILOT COACH TO FLY COUGARS TO WORLD CHAMPS

“At times we looked really flat and Coomera got up early but our coach gave a really motivational talk at halftime and we came back and scored three goals. It was the result of us really not wanting to drop a game.

“We got a bit of mongrel about us. Our players respond well to that, which is a bit funny for women’s sport.”
