THE Gold Coast cricket community is again in mourning following the sudden death of a Queens player during yesterday’s third grade game against Surfers Paradise at Labrador’s Dux Oval.
The player came off the field complaining of chest pains during Surfers’ innings and collapsed shortly afterwards following a heart attack.
The Bulletin understands fellow players then began administering CPR until an ambulance arrived, but they could not revive him.
He had been a long-serving player at Queens and batted in their innings before taking the field for Surfers’ run chase.

His passing, which prompted the abandonment of the game, came on the same day first grade teams from Surfers Paradise and Mudgeeraba Nerang contested the inaugural Chris Connell Memorial Shield.
Connell, 43, served at both clubs before his death in July.
