QUEENSLAND Country will take winning form into the National Country Championships beginning tomorrow in Shepparton, Victoria.
A Brahmans side featuring Queens trio James Spargo and Winton brothers Sam and Harry won both practice matches against the Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander outfit at Allan Border Field earlier this week.
Queensland Country (6-175) prevailed in a Twenty20 clash on Monday, restricting the indigenous XI to 9-93 thanks to Harry Winton (2-10) and Sam Winton (1-15).
Opening the batting, Spargo made 27 from 19 balls, while Queens teammate Nathan Boyd was dismissed for two in the indigenous side’s innings.
In Tuesday’s 40-over-a-side game, Country scraped home with one wicket and nine balls to spare chasing 204 for victory.

Boyd made 20 in Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander’s 8-203, with Harry Winton taking 2-11 and Sam 0-26.
In reply, Spargo made 12 and Sam Winton five, with Harry Winton helping his side home with one not out.
The National Country Championships run from January 3-11, while the Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander side will contest the Imparja Cup in Alice Springs from February 4-11.
