Perfect chance for Beaudesert jockey to end her sorry run of form

BEAUDESERT racing royalty has the perfect chance today to return to their rightful standing, with apprentice hoop Brooke Ainsworth desperate to snap her run of outs.

BEAUDESERT racing royalty has the perfect chance today to return to their rightful standing, with apprentice hoop Brooke Ainsworth desperate to snap her run of outs.

The seven-race provincial card includes the four-runner $10,000 Benchmark 70 Handicap (1650m), with Ainsworth to saddle up Mark Palmer’s Danish Hombre ($10).

Ainsworth, the daughter of late Beaudesert racing identity Ted, has endured a barren run of more than 50 races since steering Who’s Your Daddy home at Eagle Farm on May 3.

Palmer, though, says the time is right for the 2016 Gold Coast apprentice jockeys premiership winner to correct that statistical quirk.

Seven-year-old Danish Hombre has scored five career wins, including a maiden triumph over a mile and success over 2200m.

“Brooke has grown up here and comes from a great racing family; her dad was part of the furniture,” Palmer said.

“We have helped get her going with her career and she’s a good young lady.

“She’s had a few outs lately and hasn’t had the best results.

“But she rides very well and her trackwork is always great.

“She rarely goes without a winner at Beaudesert.

“Jockeys sometimes go hot and sometimes they can be a bit out of form – hopefully she can ride a winner.”

A positive is the weak field that will contest the opening race.

Palmer has scratched his other runner, fellow roughie Landale, to reduce it to a four-race contest.

“It’s a very average field,” Palmer said.

“Danish Hombre been a good horse and I reckon he should go OK.”

Australian Pharoah (CORRECT) ($2.50) is Palmer’s best bet for today, with jockey Ryan Plumb on-board for the $10,000 Maiden Handicap (1650m).
