A THIRD QAFL premiership beckons for Palm Beach Currumbin but one Lion’s title dream is over after suffering a serious leg injury.
Palm Beach Currumbin beat Surfers Paradise Demons 12.11 (83) to 8.8 (56) in the major semi-final on Saturday at Salk Oval to book their place in the premiership decider, to be held at Metricon Stadium on September 14.
Reyne Harris played 14 senior games throughout the season and was instrumental in setting up another successful year for the Lions but won’t be part of this year’s grand final.
Harris played for the Lions reserves team on Saturday with senior coach Jess Sinclair deeply considering a possible recall for the elite runner.

But Harris broke his leg and tore his ACL, ending his season prematurely.
“He is someone who we were definitely going to look at because he is an elite runner and hit up forward,” Sinclair said.
“He broke his leg the poor bugger. The last game of the year was virtually the only one he missed because he had to go back and get form and he was stiff to miss out (on Saturday).
“He came down nasty on his leg. It’s unfortunate because he was a big chance of coming in.”
Sinclair said it was another tough encounter against the Demons who were within 17-points going into the final quarter.
“It was a tough game and really even,” Sinclair said.
“We were probably on top at halftime but in the third quarter they turned the game on its head and started smashing us around the clearances and made us pay.
“They kicked four goals in the third quarter and brought the margin right back and then we were able to kick away at the end.”

Sinclair said the experience of being in a grand final in recent seasons would ensure the Lions were prepared in a fortnight.
“It’s nothing new to them which is nice. They have been in this position the last two years so they know how to prepare, their routine and what to expect so that tips it in our favour a bit,” Sinclair said.
“But we are under no illusions whoever we play that it will be tough.
“It’s at Metricon so there is a bit of the unknown as well.”
