GOLD Coasters John Mackin, Tevita Folau, Stuart Mason and Kurtis McDonald will be hoping to replicate the heroics of the 2018 Queensland Rangers when they get their shot at representative action later this month.
Teammates in the SEQ White side that finished third at this month’s QRL State Championships on the Coast, Mackin (Runaway Bay), Folau (Southport), Mason (Currumbin) and McDonald (Tugun) were today chosen for debuts in the Rangers outfit to face the NSW Pioneers in Brisbane on June 30.
Seven members from the Queensland side that won last year’s encounter 46-16 have been retained.
“They were a really good group last year and when I called them to pass on the good news (about selection), they were all extremely excited about the opportunity to represent their state again,” Rangers coach Glen Dreger said.
“At the (State Championship) carnival, we were looking for consistency, as well as players who we thought could get the job done against a strong NSW team.”
Queensland will enter camp on the Coast on June 26 ahead of the interstate battle at Davies Park four days later.
