FORMER AFL player Jack Anthony won’t be returning to play for QAFL powerhouse Palm Beach Currumbin in 2020.
Anthony has exited the club after two seasons with the Lions, helping them win the 2018 premiership before featuring in their 2019 grand final side.
Lions senior coach Jess Sinclair said the two parties agreed to part ways following a meeting earlier this month, with the club knocking back Anthony’s offer of returning in the second half of the 2020 season.
“I’m not 100 per cent sure where he has gone,” Sinclair said.
“The last time I heard was he was travelling around Australian playing for some different clubs.
“He won’t be playing in Queensland next year. He wants to play in the second half of the year with us but it won’t happen.”

Palm Beach Currumbin have managed to already fill the void left by the former Collingwood and Fremantle player, signing another key forward and fellow ex-Magpie Trent Stubbs.
Stubbs will join the Lions full-time in 2020 alongside fellow recruits and returning senior players James Holland and Jarryd Douglas.
Stubbs played for Southport in the NEAFL in 2019 but featured in four games for the Lions, kicking 14 goals, during stints in the QAFL when not selected for the Sharks.
He has moved to Sydney and planned to play football in country Victoria before Sinclair convinced him to join the Lions permanently.
“He will be living in Sydney and will fly in and out,” Sinclair said.
“I got into him and swayed him. He played four games for us this year and loved it so that with the lifestyle, we tried to sell it as best we could.”

Holland played for Frankston YCW Football Netball Club in the 2018 season, kicking 20 goals in 16 games, before the half-forward took 2019 off.
Douglas is also a key forward and will return to the Lions after taking a season off to travel.
