GAME. Set. Match. On another talent-soaked junior tournament on the Gold Coast.
More than 4000 games, 704 sets and 418 matches to be a little more precise … at the 2019 KDV Sport Junior Slam.
And it all happened in just two days, smashed out by 257 players, between 14 events, across 20 tennis courts, at one venue. And that is just what went down on court.
Off court, the players were treated to a courtside cafe, free mini golf, driving-range access and even a dedicated players room geared with games and movies.
Also sensing some similarities to a grand slam event?
Well, it was at a venue sporting two different types of grand slam surfaces, plus it did have a player pool made from some very exciting local, interstate and international junior tennis talents.
There was even a grand slam champion at the tournament, Lleyton Hewitt. He was onsite and courtside in the role of dad to support his very own tiny tennis talent Cruz, who reached the quarter-finals in the tightly contented 12/U boys singles.
Among the excitement on and off court, it was take two of title town at KDV Sport on Sunday evening, with our very own Gold Coast talents claiming some exciting victories.
With little time to take a breath, the team at KDV are now gearing up for next weekend’s Open Tournament, the KDV Winter Slam.
