GOLD Coast United have signed two of the local Premier League’s biggest names to continue the transformation of their NPL squad under new coach Kristian Rees.
Having already secured Michael Thwaite and Gold Coast Knights pair Oskar Dillon and Justyn McKay, United today confirmed the arrival of Palm Beach midfielder Jason Campbell and Burleigh goalkeeper Griffin Bambach.
“I spent some time playing with Jason at Palm Beach and Gold Coast City,” Rees said of the 21-year-old Alstonville product.
TWEED IDENTIFY PREMIER LEAGUE TARGETS
“Even at a young age then, Jason displayed great maturity and ability as well as huge energy levels. I feel if Jason wants to apply himself the sky is the limit for him.”
“I saw Griffin play during the Gold Coast league last season and he showed some great qualities. At his age (19) he has all the physical attributes to develop into a great goalkeeper.
“He’s got really good feet for a big man, which is crucial for today’s modern goalkeepers. With his attitude and willingness to learn from a great coach in Fernando I’m hoping to see even more improvement from him.
UNITED PRIORITY NO.1 FOR RETURNING STAR
“A solid goalkeeper is vital for a strong defensive foundation and I hope he works hard to cement his spot in the starting team.”
With a solid defensive formation taking shape, Rees said his attention would now turn to securing some talent up front.
