IN this week’s Round Ball Round Up podcast, Gold Coast United midfielder Justyn McKay discusses tomorrow’s derby with the Knights, his return to the Croatian Sports Centre, the state of the NPL and more.

Englishman McKay, who joined United this season after a year with the Knights, said while the Surfsiders had surprised many with their four-game winning streak, it was a different story within the squad.

“We’re happy with the way the last four games have gone but I think within the squad we’ve always been quietly confident of the quality that we have got, in conjunction with the culture that we have within the group,” McKay said.

“There’s a real good atmosphere among the coaching staff, the players and I think at our level that’s massive and goes a long way in the tough moments out on the pitch. When things aren’t going your way, we’ve got a real close-knit squad that pull together.

“We’ve ground a couple of results out and that’s testament to the character within the group.”
