Gold Coast United captain Michael Thwaite re-signs for 2020 NPL season

LESS than two weeks after luring Gold Coast Knights captain Sam Smith to the club, Gold Coast United will today announce another major signing ahead of the 2020 NPL campaign.

GOLD Coast United will today announce captain and former Socceroo Michael Thwaite has re-signed for the 2020 NPL season.

The former A-League defender and 13-game Socceroo was a rock at the back in his first NPL campaign this year as the Surfsiders finished in seventh spot.

Thwaite will turn 37 in the early stages of next season but had always maintained his desire to play on with the club, where he also plays a large off-field role.

His recommitment follows this month’s recruitment of Gold Coast Knights captain Sam Sm ith, who is widely regarded as one of the NPL’s most lethal strikers.
