JARROD Wallace says being left with a chipped tooth and cut nose in his first sparring session this week was the wake up call he needed ahead of his professional boxing debut.
The Gold Coast Titans NRL prop has confirmed he will step into the ring on November 30 as part of the undercard to Anthony Mundine’s fight against John Wayne Parrat Cbus Super Stadium.
Wallace will trade the footy for a pair of gloves at the same venue he leads the Titans pack at throughout the NRL season, with his opponent yet to be revealed.

The 28-year-old said he wanted to step outside his comfort zone and undergo a drastic offseason training program that would have him return for preseason training in career-best shape.
“I have never had the urge to get in the ring and fight someone,” Wallace said.
“I have never thrown a punch in my life, on or off the field. It’s going to be out of my comfort zone and give me a new challenge.
“The training is physical and hard and will prepare me for the preseason.”
Wallace started training with Logan-based gym NTG Fight and Fitness a fortnight ago and came out of Wednesday’s first sparring session with his eyes wide open.
“I didn’t have my mouthgaurd for sparring or head gear so I chipped my tooth and cut my nose,” Wallace said.
“It was a bit of a wake up call. I’ve got to get better at dodging. I lead with my head in football so I have to stop doing that otherwise I’ll be in trouble.
“There is a lot that goes into it mentally. I’m not known for the best footwork so trying to get it right is a challenge.”

Wallace currently weighs 108kg and expected to step into the ring at around 105kg.
Former NRL Paul Gallen will fight former AFL player Barry Hall at Melbourne’s Margaret Court Arena on November 15 but Wallace said he would hold off on calling out the winner of the bout for a fight until after he steps into the ring himself.
“I’ll have to see how I go here first,” Wallace said.
“We will see how I go with this one before I start calling anyone else out.”
