RYLEY Jacks will get a late chance to push his case for an NRL call-up after being handed the No.7 jersey for Tweed Heads’ Intrust Super Cup season-opener on Sunday.
The Seagulls will take a beefed-up list into the home showdown against the Papua New Guinea Hunters, headlined by Jacks and Titans teammate Leilani Latu as well as highly regarded prospects Treymain Spry and Ioane Seiuli.
WHO RANKS AT NO.1 IN OUR TOP 30 ISC PLAYERS LIST?
“Ryley Jacks is an NRL quality half and I know our players are really excited about having him come back to us and I’m sure he will be keen to impress,” said Tweed chief executive Paul Stephenson.
“We love Leilani Latu, he played a lot of footy with us last year and he fits in really well with our group and our culture so we’re always happy to have him.
“And our coaching staff are really excited to see what Treymain Spry and Ioane Seiuli can bring.
“They are both very different players – Ioane is a big body and a real strong carry coming out of trouble and Treymain has got some x-factor that may make up for the x-factor that we lost through Brayden McGrady.”
Captain Cheyne Whitelaw (knee) and recruit Christian Hazard (elbow) are both due back in about Round 4, while more Titans affiliates could yet return to Piggabeen once the NRL season kicks off. Jack Cook and John Palavi will lead the side in Whitelaw’s absence.
