BROADBEACH United sounded another warning to their Brisbane Women’s Premier League rivals today to round out a weekend of promise for the Gold Coast contingent.
Coming off a 2-0 win over Virginia United in Round 2, Broadbeach made it back-to-back successes with a 5-0 thumping of Taringa Rovers at Nikiforides Family Park.
The Dolphins didn’t have it all their own way though, with the hosts leading 1-0 at halftime on the back of a Jade Bianchetti goal.
EAGLES GROUNDED BUT TITLE HOPES REMAIN
They found their groove after the break however, with Bianchetti scoring three more and Emily Anderson also finding the net.
“Once we settled in we played how we know we can play. We missed a number of chances but the fact we are creating is a positive,” coach Sarah Evans said.
Broadbeach’s triumph followed a 3-3 draw between Southport and Robina City at Ashmore Village Park on Saturday, while Coomera picked up their first point with a 2-2 draw at home to Virginia.
Robina’s Mia Pinchin starred with a hat-trick against the Warriors.
Having held Broadbeach to a 1-1 draw in Round 1, Southport remain undefeated after thrashing Taringa 5-0 last weekend.
KNIGHTS BETTER PLACED THAN 2014 DOUBLE WINNERS
Robina, who were thrashed 6-0 by Peninsula Power in their BWPL debut, have also got back on track to sit on four points.
In Round 4 on Saturday, Robina host Taringa, Broadbeach travel to Coomera and Southport make the trip to The Lakes.
