Knowing three points against Olympic would secure second place behind Lions, the Knights overcame a youthful visiting team 4-2 after taking a 1-0 halftime lead courtesy of a Shannon Brady goal.

It was 2-0 when Jarrod Kyle found the net in the 53rd minute, before man-of-the-match Matthew Schmidt seemingly put the result beyond doubt with a third goal midway through the second half.

But Olympic refused to concede defeat, scoring twice in quick succession to set up a frantic final 10 minutes.

However, an injury-time goal from substitute Luke Marsh steadied the ship for the Knights, who finished the regular season with 22 wins, four draws and two losses.

The victory means the Knights will now host third-placed Power in a do-or-die semi final on Sunday, while Lions will tackle Olympic at Richlands.

The Knights have played Power three times already in 2019, with the sides registering a win each in the NPL and the Knights prevailing 4-2 in their Round 6 FFA Cup meeting in May.

GRAND FINAL REMATCH KICKS OFF COAST LEAGUE PLAYOFFS

In the final round of the NPL Women’s, Gold Coast United held premiers Lions to a 0-0 draw at Richlands on Saturday to wrap up fourth spot.

United also defied the odds to claim the women’s under-18 crown with a come-from-behind 3-2 victory over Lions.
