HISTORY repeated for the Gold Coast Dolphins today as the Katherine Raymont Shield’s defending Twenty20 champions split their 20-over fixtures on Brisbane’s northside.
Having recorded a win and a loss in each of their three previous Sunday double-headers, the Dolphins women repeated the dose after bouncing back from a first-up loss to Wests to down Ipswich-Logan in a nailbiter.
DOLPHINS’ X-FACTOR FINDING FORM
Defending a total of 5-108 thanks largely to Rebecca van Helvoirt (35 not out) and Amy Riddell (21), the Coast outfit were crushed by the Bulldogs, who cruised home with nine wickets and four overs to spare.
Riddell (1-30) was the sole wicket-taker at Ian Healy Oval.
But redemption was swift as Queensland all-rounder Sammy-Jo Johnson (56) and Carly Fuller (37) fired the Dolphins to 7-141 against Ipswich-Logan, who reached 6-138 in reply.
COAST’S BEST PLAYER COUNTDOWN: 5 TO 1
Ridell (2-28) was again the most successful with the ball for the victors.
