FORMER Broadbeach Robina coach Shane Davis is poised to shun interest from Kookaburra Cup rivals in a bid to rediscover his passion during a 2019-20 sabbatical.
A month after Davis announced his resignation as Cats coach, the Bulletin can reveal the premiership-winning mentor has fielded offers from at least three other Cricket Gold Coast clubs.
A 12-year servant at Broadbeach across three stints, Davis steered the club to a record four titles last season, including a droughtbreaking first grade crown.

The 50-year-old won first grade flags as a player with the Cats and Surfers Paradise, with his CV also including on-field stints Queens and Mudgeeraba Nerang.
However, Davis conceded he was “spent” at the end of last season, prompting his departure from the club’s head coaching post.
“At this stage it’s highly likely I will have a break this summer,” Davis, a three-time Kookaburra Cup-winning coach at Broadbeach, said.
“Winning four of the six premierships (last season), I just didn’t think I can give my all to the club. It was just time to walk away when you’re on top.

“I put everything into it and when we didn’t win it affected my mood at work, it affected my mood at home. I don’t really want to go through that again.
“The strength of how I coach is my hunger and passion and drive. If I’m not hungry myself, it’s not going to work.”
Having forged strong bonds at Broadbeach, Davis said severing ties to join a rival club would be difficult.
“I’ve got a lot of friends there. Part of me feels like I’ve done my thing at Broadbeach but to go to another club is a shift of my friendships and life,” he said.
“I’ve just been completely honest with other clubs and said part of me interested (in the coaching offer) but most of me is not. Part of me doesn’t want to do nothing in summer but I really don’t know.
“I thought I was done (with coaching next season) and then I got a phone call and I thought ‘am I interested?’. I just don’t think I’ve got anything to give right now.”
Broadbeach Robina are likely to unveil their new head coach at or before the Annual General Meeting on July 14.
