THE greatest threat to The Southport School’s GPS First XV domination could come from within as they prepare for a potential premiership decider against Brisbane Boys’ College tomorrow.
After five-straight victories for an aggregate of 280-37, TSS will face arguably their biggest test of the season when they play away to fellow unbeaten side BBC at 3.15pm.
While they are coming off a red-hot 78-0 thrashing of Brisbane Grammar School in Round 5, their preparation has been hampered by midweek exams for the side’s Year 12 contingent.
TSS WINGER’S INCREDIBLE 43-POINT HAUL
Coach Mike Wallace said the challenge for his players now was to stick to the processes that had so far carried them to the brink of their first title since 2017.
“It’s (been) a big week for the boys academically with exams so that probably needs to be the number one priority. It’s a much bigger focus than football,” Wallace said.
“A lot of our guys are in Year 12 and they have got priorities beyond the end of Term 3. The key for us is it’s always about processes.
“That’s what educating kids is all about (and) seeing if you can get better every week and improve on the things you aim to improve on. That’s always the focus.

“Every game in our competition is must-win so in terms of that, (this game) is no different. Every game is effectively a grand final.
“Our preparation is no different to how it was for Brisbane Grammar.”
After travelling to BBC, TSS will face Gregory Terrace (away) and Ipswich Grammar (home) before a bye in the final round on September 14.
