CRICKET Gold Coast’s drawn-out fixtures saga is over, but senior director Peter Goodchap says there is still work to be done to find the perfect solution.
CGC yesterday released its Kookaburra Cup fixtures list for 2018-19, with each of the 11 first grade sides to play 10 one-dayers and six two-dayers.

In May, the governing body announced it would stick with its controversial limited-overs format for next season, only to backflip less than six weeks later amid a club revolt.

With hopes of adding a 12th team to the competition in 2019-20, Goodchap said the committee was now working towards a plan for the future.
“We’re not leaving (the draw) there, it’s progress. The plan next year is to have an even number of teams in first grade,” he said.
“We don’t want byes in first grade and we don’t want to relegate a club so we still have a lot of work to do to … work out what the criteria is (to join the competition). While it’s a relief to get the draw out, it’s by no means sitting back and waiting for the start of the season.”
