Merrett will captain South Queensland in the 4.30pm curtain-closer to the Round 13 AFL clash between Gold Coast and St Kilda.
“We had excellent buy in from the players (named in the preliminary squad) so it was a really tough job for selectors in coming up with the final 22,” South Queensland coach Danny Craven said.

“There’s a really good balance of experience and youth. It’s fantastic to have six players under 21 in the team.”
Schoenmaker has helped Burleigh move to the top of the QFA Division 1 competition after nine rounds, while Merrett, King and Smart are part of the Bond outfit that sits third in QFA Division 2.
