Burleigh Bears hooker Pat Politoni suspended for three matches for Michael Parker-Walshe punch

A RECORD of good behaviour has limited Burleigh Intrust Super Cup hooker Pat Politoni’s suspension to three weeks for his punch that knocked out Townsville rival Michael Parker-Walshe.

A RECORD of good behaviour has limited Burleigh Intrust Super Cup hooker Pat Politoni’s suspension to three weeks for his punch that knocked out Townsville rival Michael Parker-Walshe last Sunday.

Politoni took an early guilty plea upon fronting the judiciary on Wednesday night, with lawyer Jim Coburn defending him.

The 28-year-old was initially handed an eight-match ban but that sentence was reduced to three due to a number of factors, including his plea, the 41 minutes he already missed after being sent off, and his seven years incident free record.

Politoni will take 60 carryover points forward, however.

Suspended centre Sami Sauiluma still has another three games to serve but Sam Coster and Jacob Hind are both available to return from bans for the Bears’ Round 5 match against Souths Logan at Davies Park on Sunday.

Jordan Scott has been named to take Politoni’s place in the No.9 jersey.
