IN the latest edition of the Bulletin’s Round Ball Round Up podcast, former Socceroo Michael Thwaite opens up on what it means to be back at Gold Coast United, the club’s potential raid on the Gold Coast Knights and building a connection with the grassroots community on the Coast.
With new United coach Kristian Rees admitting he may tap into his Knights connections to build his 2019 NPL squad, Thwaite said player movement was inevitable.
FORMER SOCCEROO LEAVING A-LEAGUE DOOR OPEN
“There’s a lot of good players at the Knights. They’ve just deservedly won the championship in the Gold Coast (Premier League) and with two teams (going into the NPL) and a lot of talent, there’s probably going to be some transfers,” he said.
“But I leave that up to the board and Kristian, that’s why he’s head coach. I can only create a network around me and try and guide the players around me when I’m in that role. I’ll be pushing Gold Coast United for sure.”
