IN this week’s edition of the Round Ball Round Up, Broadbeach Women’s Premier League coach Sarah Evans opens up about her side’s 2018 dominance, the state of female football on the Coast and the Dolphins’ simmering rivalry with 2017 champions Southport.
Asked about how the quality of this season’s Women’s Premier League compared to previous years, Evans pulled no punches.
“It has declined in the last couple of years, you can’t really deny that because teams have reduced,” she said.

“You’ve got players that have gone to the NPL teams and things and there’s some talented players on the Gold Coast and that’s why it’s so sad. The players that are out there, there’s some real talent out there and it’s a shame this game is becoming less and less accessible for them to play.
“We’re lucky enough to have here some of the best players on the Coast. I’ve said that for the last four or five years. This club has seen some tremendously good players.”
