BILAMBIL have pulled off a stunning win just days after being on the brink of forfeiting.

The injury-stricken Jets have been scratching around for players for weeks now and were in a dire situation in the lead up to their Rugby League Gold Coast Round 9 match against Ormeau at Brien Harris Oval on Sunday.

“Probably Thursday night we were unable to field a team but we had a few of the guys from reggies put their hand up and say ‘I’ll help’,” Bilambil coach Kevin Campion revealed.

In the end, the Jets had 15 fresh legs for A-grade plus two players who backed up from their Doug Lipp Cup side but that did not stop them from triumphing 28-10 for their second win of the year.

TUAUPIKI LOVING SWITCH TO FULLBACK

“I’m really happy with how the team went. The players that went out and performed well deserve another crack next week, that’s for sure,” Campion said.

The former Maroons enforcer praised a number of players for their part in the result, including captain Mitch Spackman, Tom Rowles, Jack Welsh, Luke Jaeger, Max Campion, Zeke Garrett and debutant Elijah Arnold.

He added there is hope that marquee half Rex Johnson may be fit to return next weekend against Southport.

“After a dislocated hip, it’s more mental than anything … but at some point we’ll just have to throw him in there and see how he goes,” Campion said.

TITANS’ OWN PAYNE HAAS

“Rexy adds a bit more calmness to the side and he is obviously a quality player and gives us great direction. We have been trying to get through this tough period waiting for that to come back but we’ll wait and see.”

Burleigh took the points against Currumbin 22-20 while Tugun turned the tables on Runaway Bay 20-18 after losing a thriller between the sides back in Round 3.
