THE BCiB Australia Jackaroos have performed strongly at the 2019 Multi-Nations on the Gold Coast, winning medals in every discipline possible as preparations continue ahead of next year’s World Bowls Championships.
Between Australia “Gold” and “Green”, the two teams secured six gold (from a possible eight), four silver and four bronze medals, including both singles crowns to kickstart a gold rush on the final day.

Ray Pearse and Ellen Ryan defeated Gary Kelly (Ireland) and Kelly McKerihen (Canada) respectively in their singles finals while Lynsey Clarke, Karen Murphy, Chloe Stewart and Natasha Scott claimed gold in the women’s fours.
Carla Krizanic, Kristina Krstic and Rebecca Van Asch combined to win the women’s triples gold.
Nathan Rice picked up a gold medal in his final match for the Jackaroos with men’s fours teammates Aron Sherriff, Wayne Ruediger and Ben Twist, while Karen Murphy produced a memorable last bowl to help Australia win the women’s pairs gold medal with Ryan over New Zealand.
Murphy will go on to finish her Jackaroos career at next weekend’s World Bowls Challenge at Moama, while Rice bows out in his home town with 288 caps in the green and gold.
Broadbeach’s Ryan Bester won gold in the men’s pairs for Canada with John Bezear. Musgrave Hill’s Chris Le Lievre won men’s triples gold on debut for New Zealand with Andrew Kelly and Ali Forsyth.
The World Bowls Challenge features many of the world’s finest with Australia versus the rest of the World this Friday and Saturday live on Fox and Kayo.
The annual trans-Tasman Test Series of Australia versus New Zealand began yesterday with the first Test at Club Helensvale featuring open, development and over-60s men’s and women’s teams.
Play will continue today with the second Test at Musgrave Hill. The third is tomorrow at Broadbeach.
In the open team, Carla Krizanic was a late withdrawal from the series and was replaced by Lynsey Clarke.
