BELIEF has been the buzzword at the Gold Coast Dolphins as they set their sights on Queensland Premier Cricket redemption against Wests this weekend.
Still riding high after stretching their unbeaten two-day record to three games with a two-wicket win over Wynnum Manly last Saturday, the Dolphins will meet Wests for the second time this season today and tomorrow at Bill Pippen Oval.
COAST STAR BOLTS INTO NATIONAL SQUAD
The Bulldogs dished out a nine-wicket drubbing with more than 30 overs to spare when the sides squared off in a one-day encounter on the opening day of the season, but the Coast outfit they will meet in the longest form is likely to present a much sterner test.
After picking up a tie and a draw from their two-day fixtures against Valleys and University, the Dolphins showed dogged determination to chase down Wynnum Manly’s 322 in Round 6.
While bowling all-rounder Trent Arnold is out with a broken rib, captain Max Houlahan said belief was now at an all-time high.
“The belief within the team at the moment is unbelievable,” Houlahan said.
DECISION REACHED ON CONTROVERSIAL COAST CRICKET CLASH
“The start of the year we came in off a really good pre-season (but Wests) came in with a pretty red-hot team and the wicket didn’t really help us at all. They’re a very strong club so they will always be a challenge but the last few two-day performances we have been building, so hopefully we can give them a run for their money.
“We believe we can win against anyone.”
The Dolphins’ women will travel to Ipswich-Logan in the Katherine Raymont Shield tomorrow.
