Bears hearts break in remarkable fashion in NRL State Championship

A freak try on the siren has broken the hearts of the Burleigh Bears.

BURLEIGH have lost NRL State Championship in the most heartbreaking fashion after Newtown scored on the siren at ANZ Stadium.

The Bears raced to a 16-2 lead just after halftime in the NRL curtain-raiser but the Jets stormed home in a thrilling conclusion.

A freakish bounce of the ball landed in the lap of a charging Jets player who streak 50m to steal the victory 20-16.

Burleigh had looked good for the win all day in what would have been a satisfying success after their 2016 shocker in which they were flogged in the corresponding NRL State Championship game by Illawarra.
