All the award winners at Gold Coast United

A league veteran and a returning star have taken out the top honours for NPL club Gold Coast United.

FORMER A-League player Michael Thwaite has claimed Gold Coast United’s men’s NPL player of the year title at last night’s awards.

The 36-year-old and 13-time Socceroo claimed the gong in front of about 700 guests at last night’s function at Royal Pines Resort.

NPL captain Eloise Fryer took out the women’s award after making a successful comeback from a serious knee injury suffered in 2018.

Fryer made eight appearances in the Football Queensland NPLW Team of the Week out of 23 appearances.

Brandon Reeves (15 goals) and Deeanna Thompson (18 goals) took out the club’s NPL golden boot gongs.

Coach of the Year went to John “Spud” Murphy, who transformed the youth men, guiding 13 under-20 players into the senior ranks in 2019.

Technical Director’s Award went to Momo Hayashi.

Though small in stature Hayashi’s ability, smarts, power and vision – plus seven goals from defence – saw him claim top honours.

Jack Pirone earnt the Outstanding Achievement Award by becoming the club’s first Australian representative.

Pirone played for the Joeys with distinction in Thailand and has been tipped for bigger and better things in the coming seasons.
