Week nine of Coast cricket featured representatives from PNG as we close in on the end of the one day cup. Check out who the top 11 performances were and the unlucky ones that didn’t make it.

Week nine of Coast cricket featured representatives from PNG as we close in on the end of the one day cup.

Saturday and Sunday had some big knocks, big hauls and close calls, including Mudgeeraba third grade in anther nail bitting finish.

Below are the performances of the weekend.

Harry Maher – 100 (93)

Round 10, Mudgeeraba v Runaway Bay – Premier Second Grade

Opening the batting and looking to set the tone for the day, Maher punished the Runaway Bay bowlers, smashing 12x4s and 1x6 in his 93 ball innings.

Nathan Hill – 101* (72)

Round 10, Queens v Alberton – Premier Second Grade

Coming in at 1-77 after losing both openers, one to retirement and the other caught on the fence. Hill stamped his dominance on the game early, smashing 10x4s and 4x6s in his innings.

David Andrews – 97 (88)

Round 9, Green Tamborine Mountain Canungra v Runaway Bay Colts – Premier Third Grade

Tamborine were in trouble at 2-6 when Andrews arrived at the crease, a partnership of 68 and then 129 helped them to a defendable total of 6-253.

Timothy Murdoch – 5-29 (8)

Round 9, Runaway Bay v Surfers Paradise – Premier Third Grade

The off spinner opened the bowling, claiming his first wicket on just his fourth ball of the first over. Murdoch then ripped through the middle order dropping Surfers Paradise to 9-91.

Brendan McGrath – 100* (42)

Round 9, Queens Centaurs v Coomera Hope Island – Community Div 1

Already in a dominant position when McGrath arrived at the crease, he took the game away from Coomera, smashing a quick fire 100 not out which included two 4s and 13 x 6s.

Craig Bennett – 117 (54)

Round 9, Southport v Burleigh – Community Div 2

Southport’s number five took the Burleigh bowlers to the cleaners on Saturday, going at more than two runs a ball, which included 11x4s and 9x6s.

Gareth Morgan came back to bowling taking 4-27 off his 6 overs in the Over 40s Div 1 but was unable to feature in the top 11 best performances of the week

Oisin Gribben – 94 (77)

Round 9, Burleigh v Southport – Community Div 2

Burleigh needed someone to stand up in their mammoth run chase of 326, Gribben was that man, combining with captain Geoff Tunks (76) but their side fell short by 88 runs.

Aiden Santhosh – 100* (116)

Round 4, Mudgeeraba v Runaway Bay Seagulls – Junior Open Div 2

The young opener set in for a long morning against the Seagulls attack on the opening day of the round four clash. Santhosh combined with Joshua Clarke (100*) to lead their side to 2-261 from 50 overs.

Joshua Clarke – 100* (102)

Round 4, Mudgeeraba v Runaway Bay Seagulls – Junior Open Div 2

Clarke came in at number three, with Mudgee already in a dominant position and but the Seagulls bowlers to the sword with Santhosh.

Oliver Higgins – 5-23 (5.5)

Round 4, Runaway Bay Seagulls v Surfers Paradise Red – Under 13s Div 1

Surfers Paradise were starting to take the upper hand before young Higgins came on to bowl, ripping through the middle and lower order.

Jettah Eliason – 5-15 (7) & 36 (13)

Round 4, Southport v Palm Beach Currumbin – Under 13s Div 1

PBC made 9-242, Eliason opened the bowling and ripped through the middle order when someone needed to stand up, in the end he stopped a massive run chase but Southport were bowled out for just 62 in the first innings, Eliason top scored with 36 in the second innings.
