The two best clubs of the year will lock horns once again, meeting for the second time on the grand final stage, this time in the two-day format of Coast cricket competition.

Palm Beach and Mudgeeraba battled it out just two weeks ago for the one day grand final with Palm Beach lifting the premiership cup after a convincing win.

Now Mudgeeraba are on the road for redemption as they battle demons from this years grand final loss to go with the previous five grand final losses next to their name.

Mudgeeraba coach Cameron Garnham said they are massive underdogs heading into this final.

“I think it is pretty obvious isn’t it, especially when you look at what happened two weeks ago,” Garnham said.

“Not just that but we have spoken about losing the last six grand finals and making sure we don’t make it seven.

“They have got some great talent Palm Beach, we know what we need to do.

“We don’t take too much out of the win against Surfers, it was great for some batters to spend time at the crease.

“But once we had passed the score, it was hard for Surfers Paradise to stay motivated.”

The clubs will play at Gold Coast Dolphins home ground, Bill Pippen Oval.

PBC captain Cody Durante said it is by far the best ground to play on in the Gold Coast.

“Any chance you get to play on it is really special, it is the best ground to play on,” Durante said.

“It will be a great match up, we have been the best two teams of the year.

“I would say they would be the favourites, they pretty much sat on top until the very last round.

“We learnt a lot from the one-day final, when things don’t go your way and how to change the momentum.

“They will bring their best and we expect that, they wouldn’t be in it if they didn’t.”

Palm Beach knocked off Helensvale in the semi final, winning by 75 runs while Mudgeeraba bowled out Surfers Paradise for 88 and finished 5-322 when the game was eventually called off on the Sunday.

The grand final will get under way on Saturday and Sunday at 10am.
