The Premier Invitational began in 2012 as the brainchild of Magic United TFA with the goal of bringing junior players together for a festival of football on the Gold Coast.
News Corp will bring its subscribers 86 matches over three jam-packed match days beginning Friday, October 1.
These are just a handful of the uber-talented young players to watch for on the livestream:
Hibiki Tomioka
Age: 13
Team: Gold Coast Knights U13s
Position: Central Midfielder
A coach’s favourite player for his incredible workrate and do-it-all skillset. A true box-to-box midfielder, Tomioka is technically sound on both sides of his body and is dangerous in front of goal when he goes forward. He’s also one of the first to get back and provide assistance to his defenders. A true teammate and star.
Sebastian Carrabino
Age: 13
Team: Gold Coast Knights U13s
Position: Striker
When you’re likened to Luis Suarez you know you’re doing something right. A player hungry for scoring goals, Carrabino loves to pickpocket defenders. He’s adept on both sides of his body and can score a goal from any area and angle on the field.
Cole Fenton
Age: 13
Team: Gold Coast Knights U13s
Position: Centre Back
The complete prototypical modern centre-half. Fenton can dominated opponents in the air and on the ground, has a strong physical presence and wouldn’t look out of place in midfield with his ball playing ability. Also played U14s at Knights this season.
Louis Williams
Age: 14
Team: Gold Coast Knights U14s
Position: Winger
The left-footer is a demon down the right wing for the Knights’ U14s, creating a plethora of scoring opportunities for his teammates and himself in the front third. Williams won the team’s best and fairest award this season. He loves to take the game on and has a habit of scoring goals for fun.
Dario Jagodic
Age: 14
Team: Gold Coast Knights U14s
Position: Midfielder
“Elegant” is how Dario’s movement and work with the ball is described by those who know him best. Another box-to-box midfielder who plays with a football IQ that belies his young age.
Christian Mladenis
Age: 15
Team: Gold Coast Knights U15s
Position: Striker
Rated as one of the best players in the Knights’ Academy at any age, Mladenis has taken his game to another level in 2021. The 15-year-old also plays with the Knights’ U18s side, such is his talent. A left-footed striker with exceptional technical ability.
Tyler Caldwell
Age: 13s
Team: Magic United U13s
Position: Goalkeeper
A modern shotstopper who not only keeps the ball out of his own net, but helps set up counterplay with great vision and a quality passing game.
Luca Nakagama
Age: 13
Team: Magic United U13s
Position: Striker
The golden boot winner in Magic’s Junior Premier League title run, Nakagama uses his pace and physicality to engineer scoring chances in and outside the box. He can score from headers, set plays and create for himself. A true threat around goal.
Joel Hunter
Age: 13
Team: Magic United U13s
Position: Centre Back
Another staple in the Magic United U13s JPL-winning team, Hunter is another centre-half who follows the modern trend of ball-playing defenders. He’s one of the best in his age group and turning defence into attack and his timing in the tackle is fantastic.
